Malcolm White and Altavesta Elementary Named 2026 Schools of Recognition

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has named Malcolm White and Mary D. Altavesta elementary schools 2026 Schools of Recognition for substantial progress toward their accountability targets, with particular emphasis on improved achievement in English language arts and math. The two are among 56 schools recognized statewide. Superintendent Matthew Crowley called it a tremendous accomplishment for students and staff, while noting that MCAS is only one measure of what happens in Woburn's schools.
