Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Opus Noma LLC ("Opus Noma," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Nanopress, our hyperlocal email newsletter and related websites (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you subscribe to a newsletter: your email address, your ZIP code, and your delivery preference (daily or weekly). We use your ZIP code to match you to a local edition and, if a local area is later divided into smaller areas, to keep you on the right one.
When you advertise with us: your name, your business name and mailing address, your email address, and the content of the ads you submit. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe; we receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details, but we do not collect or store your full card number.
When you contact us: any information you include in your message.

Information we collect automatically

Engagement. We measure whether our emails are opened and whether links or ads in them are clicked, so we can improve the newsletter and report ad performance to advertisers in aggregate.
Device and log data. Like most websites, our servers receive standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request.
Cookies. We use only strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in to the subscriber and advertiser areas. We do not place third-party advertising or analytics cookies on our sites. If you arrive from one of our ads, we read the ad-click identifier in the link (see "Advertising measurement" below).

How we use information

We use the information above to:

compile and deliver your local newsletter;
verify your identity with a one-time code when you sign in or manage your subscription;
route you to the correct local edition based on your ZIP code;
operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service;
process advertiser payments, screen and publish ads, and report ad performance to advertisers in aggregate; and
comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information for advertising measurement (described below, with an opt-out), and otherwise only as follows:

Service providers. We use Amazon Web Services to host the Service and deliver our emails, and Stripe to process advertiser payments. These providers process information on our behalf and are bound to protect it.
Advertising measurement. When you sign up after clicking one of our ads, we send Meta Platforms (Facebook/Instagram) a conversion signal so we can measure whether our advertising works: a one-way hashed version of your email address, the ad-click identifier from the link you followed, and your device's IP address and browser type. Meta uses this to match the signup to the ad you clicked; it is the only information we send to any advertising platform, and we never send your name, ZIP code, or reading activity. You can opt out at any time (see "Your choices and rights") — opting out never affects your subscription.
Automated content tools. We use third-party artificial-intelligence and web-search services to compile news from publicly available sources; we do not send subscriber information to these news tools. Separately, when you contact support, the text of your message may be processed by AI tools acting on our behalf, under agreements that prohibit them from using it for their own purposes.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Opus Noma, our users, or the public.
Business transfers. If Opus Noma is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Email open and click measurement

Our emails may include small images and links that let us know when a message is opened or a link is clicked. You can limit open tracking by configuring your email program not to load remote images.

How long we keep information

We keep your subscriber information for as long as you are subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward. Copies of support correspondence, including internal records of how your request was handled, may be retained in our operational systems for up to 24 months. We keep advertiser and transaction records for as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see "Your choices and rights").

Your choices and rights

Unsubscribe. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can manage or cancel your subscription at nanopress.net/manage.
Access, correction, and deletion. You may ask us to provide, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing privacy@nanopress.net. We will respond as required by applicable law.
Advertising measurement opt-out. You can stop the conversion signal described under "Advertising measurement" at any time — use the setting at nanopress.net/manage or email privacy@nanopress.net. Opting out never affects your subscription.
State privacy rights. Depending on where you live (for example, California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and other states with consumer privacy laws), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to request its deletion or correction, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information. Some of these laws may treat the advertising measurement described above as "sharing"; the opt-out above stops it. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@nanopress.net; we will verify your request using the email address on file.

Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures, including encryption of data in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, take additional steps as required by law.
