State Warns Coastal Towns of Flooding, Erosion Ahead of Nor'easter
Governor Maura Healey and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency are urging coastal communities, including Winthrop, to prepare for a weekend nor'easter expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds and higher than normal tides. The National Weather Service forecasts 2 to 6 inches of rain in Eastern Massachusetts and gusts up to 60 mph on the coast, with minor coastal flooding and erosion possible. Downed tree limbs could cause scattered power outages, and drivers should expect slow travel through Sunday and follow local officials' instructions on road closures.
