Winchester Lawmakers Help Pass PROTECT Act Limiting Immigration Enforcement

State Senators Jason Lewis and Pat Jehlen and State Representatives Michael S. Day and Michelle Ciccolo joined the Massachusetts Legislature on Friday, Sept. 25, in passing the PROTECT Act. The law limits federal civil immigration enforcement in courthouses, on public school grounds and in hospitals, and strengthens due process protections. It also expands protections for crime victims and sets clearer rules for how correctional facilities and law enforcement agencies interact with federal immigration authorities.
