Green Hall Reopens at Wellesley College After Year-Long Closure
Wellesley College's 95-year-old Green Hall, a hub for the humanities and the base of the Galen Stone Tower, has reopened for the fall 2026 semester after a year-long closure. The renovations replaced the fire alarm, sprinkler system, pipes and smoke detectors and added recessed LED lights in the corridors. The work is part of a critical repairs initiative the Board of Trustees funded in 2022 with $125 million from the endowment. During the closure, language departments moved across campus, many to the modular complex known as the Mods, and some professors said the move hurt their work and students' access to resources.
