Waltham man faces possible deportation after appeal dismissal

Gedion Masunsu, a 42-year-old Waltham resident who has sought political asylum for sixteen years, faces possible deportation after the Board of Immigration Appeals dismissed his appeal on September 15. Masunsu, who once aided U.S. troops in Iraq and took part in the Waltham Police Department's Citizens Academy, has spent the last 19 months in ICE detention at the Strafford County Jail in Dover, New Hampshire, where he leads daily prayer gatherings for fellow detainees.
