Waltham man arrested on firearm-possession charges
Officers went to a Lexington Street home on Sept. 6 for a reported dispute between roommates, and returned the next day after property owners said a shotgun left by a previous tenant was still inside. Police found the gun loaded in a storage bench, and an officer later determined that Patrick J. Rooney, 35, was subject to active abuse prevention and harassment prevention orders requiring him to surrender firearms. Rooney pleaded not guilty on Sept. 8 and has a pretrial hearing scheduled for Nov. 10.
