Wakefield Holds 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
The Town of Wakefield holds its Day of Remembrance Ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks at 9:45 a.m. today at the Americal Civic Center, 467 Main Street, which replaced the originally announced Fire Department headquarters to allow more seating and shelter from weather. Fire Chief Thomas M. Purcell leads the ceremony, joined by Town Administrator Denise Y. Casey, Town Council Chair Jonathan Chines, Police Chief Steven Skory, Rev. Glenn Mortimer and Rep. Kate Lipper-Garabedian, with a bell tribute by the town's public safety team and a moment of silence. Residents who cannot attend can watch video coverage shortly after the event on Wakefield Community Access TV's YouTube channel and Facebook page.
