Homeless Coalition Opens Expanded Shelter on College Avenue

The Somerville Homeless Coalition has completed its move to First Church Somerville at 89 College Ave., growing its adult shelter from 16 to 26 beds. The new, fully accessible space includes about 4,000 square feet with three dormitory areas, a kitchen, bathrooms, and a multipurpose room, replacing the coalition's deteriorating longtime site at 64 College Ave. after roughly four decades. City leaders and community members gathered to mark the opening, with Mayor Jake Wilson thanking those who helped bring the project forward.
