West Nile Virus Detected in Somerville Mosquito Samples

Somerville Health and Human Services reported Wednesday, Aug. 5, that state testing found West Nile Virus in mosquitoes collected in the city, though the risk level here remains "moderate." No animal or human cases have been reported in Massachusetts so far this season. State public health officials recommend using insect repellent, repairing screens, draining standing water, and being aware of peak mosquito hours.
