Davis Square Escalator Accident Prompts New MBTA Safety Warnings
A woman suffered a minor hand injury at the Davis Square MBTA station on Friday, July 31, after her clothing became caught in an escalator as she reached the bottom, according to the city. Somerville firefighters responded around 7:13 a.m. and cut away the trapped clothing; the city credited another rider with pressing the escalator's emergency stop button before responders arrived. It is the second such incident at the station this year — a man died from injuries sustained in a similar incident in February — and the MBTA issued safety reminders on Aug. 3.
