Swampscott MCAS Scores Exceed Statewide Averages

Massachusetts assessment results released Sept. 25 show Swampscott Public Schools students scoring above statewide averages in English, math and science. In English, 47% of Swampscott students met or exceeded expectations, compared with 30% or lower in neighboring districts. Superintendent Jason Calichman credited educators' work supporting students, while statewide achievement remains below pre-pandemic levels.

Statewide Shellfish Harvesting Closure Took Effect Saturday

A Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries precautionary closure took effect before sunrise Saturday due to the incoming nor'easter, coastal flooding, and heavy rain. It covers all Massachusetts shellfish-growing areas and remains in effect until the state reopens them.
