Swampscott Issues Nor'easter Water Safety Advisory

Town, police, and fire officials have banned swimming, surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and all other recreational water activities through at least Sunday evening, Sept. 27, as a powerful nor'easter brings dangerous surf, rip currents, damaging winds and coastal flooding. Residents and visitors are urged to stay away from beaches, seawalls, rocks and other exposed coastal areas. Harbor Master and Fire Department boats have been removed from the water and will not be available for rapid water rescues, so anyone who sees someone in distress should call 911 and not attempt a rescue themselves.
