Health Officials Investigate Dead Gulls Found Along King's Beach

At least nine dead gulls have been found along King's Beach in Swampscott and Lynn over the past week, according to resident Hersh Goldman, who first reported three birds clustered near the Swampscott end of the beach on Sept. 10. Public Health Director Jeff Vaughan notified state officials on Sept. 15 and shared guidance for handling deceased wildlife. Wildlife officials say it is too early to determine what killed the birds or whether the deaths are connected.
