Insect found in Stoneham High lunch prompts health inspection

A Stoneham High School student found a small worm-like insect in a cafeteria meal this week, and video of it circulated on social media. Superintendent Kristin DeFrancisco told families the district immediately contacted the Stoneham Board of Health, which reviewed the situation and cleared the facility for a second time that week with no additional concerns identified. She said the district will continue working with its food service provider and custodial staff on food safety, sanitation and inspection practices, and called the incident isolated.
