Friends of the Fells Hosts Pet-Waste Cleanup Today

Friends of the Fells runs its "PoopBlitz" today, with volunteers fanning out from assigned trailheads to collect dog waste and record locations and photos of both bagged and unbagged waste across the Middlesex Fells. The group ran its first blitz in April; organizers say the data shows how much waste is in the park at one time and where concentrations are heaviest, which guides steps such as its pilot pet-waste station project. Participants sign up for a preferred starting point and meet volunteers there on Sept. 13.
