MBTA Cameras Begin Monitoring Blocked Bus Stops and Lanes
Cameras mounted on MBTA buses began recording vehicles parked or stopped illegally in bus stops and bus lanes in Roxbury, the South End, Chinatown and Downtown Boston this week. Drivers will receive warning notices through the end of 2026, with fines starting Jan. 1: $100 for parking in a bus stop, and $25 for a first bus-lane violation, rising to as much as $125 for four or more. Transit officials say the pilot is meant to keep lanes and stops clear on some of Boston's busiest transit corridors so buses run more reliably.
