City Council Committee Holds Hearing on Citywide Community Safety Strategies

The City Council's Committee on Public Safety and Criminal Justice meets at 10 a.m. in the Iannella Chamber to take up five dockets, including a cross-sector citywide strategy for community safety and violence prevention and an examination of firearm trafficking and gun violence hotspots in police districts B-2 and B-3. Other items include a community-based summer public safety plan, the city's response to noise complaints, and a proposal to codify the Office of Violence Prevention with a biennial strategy plan. Members of the public may testify in person or virtually; in-person speakers should arrive five minutes early to sign up and bring 15 copies of any written materials.
