Three-Alarm Fire Collapses Roof of Vacant Park Street House

Firefighters were called to a vacant house at 8-10 Park Street at 6:34 a.m. Thursday and found heavy fire in the basement and all three upper floors. The fire burned through the roof, which collapsed, forcing crews out of the building to fight it from outside with hose lines and aerial ladders. Two firefighters were hospitalized with serious hand injuries and a third hurt an ankle. The cause is undetermined and under investigation, and mutual aid came from Cambridge, Boston, Chelsea and Medford.
