Winter Hill Yacht Club hosts annual veterans cruise

Nearly 100 veterans from every branch of the armed forces gathered at the Winter Hill Yacht Club on Sunday for its annual Veterans Cruise, carried by 15 privately donated boats piloted by club members. The day began with a continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m., and 14 ROTC cadets from Lowell greeted arrivals with a ceremonial sword and honor guard salute. The flotilla left at 10:45 a.m. under State Police escort, passing through the Amelia Earhart Dam locks and the USS Constitution toward Castle Island, where fire and Massport vessels offered a water cannon salute.
