Pop-Up Gallery to Fill Former Davis Starbucks

Top story

Former Davis Square Starbucks to Become Pop-Up Art Gallery

The Starbucks at 260 Elm St., which closed a year ago, will reopen as a nonprofit pop-up gallery run on a volunteer model by curator Susan Berstler of the Nave Gallery, working with the city's Arts and Culture department. Berstler received the keys Sept. 1 under a short-term lease the city signed with property owner Asana, and gallery furniture has begun moving in as paper comes down from the windows. She said the space aims to highlight the local artists' community and "bring some energy back into Davis," where storefronts have sat empty since the developer's 7th Spoke lab project stalled with the labs market.
