Residents Urge Pause on Davis Square Neighborhood Council Recognition
At a Legislative Matters Committee hearing on September 10, community members and former state Rep. Denise Provost asked city councilors to delay formal recognition of the Davis Square Neighborhood Council, citing unresolved disputes over voting quorums and boundary rules. Board members are split over whether eight or 20 people should constitute a voting quorum, and some say the 642-member group, formed in 2024, has work to do first. The committee will decide next week what to recommend to the full council; without official standing, the council cannot negotiate community benefits with developers.
