State Denies Saugus Bid to Skip Public Records Requests

Massachusetts Supervisor of Records Manza Arthur has denied Saugus' petition for relief from public records requests submitted by Elizabeth Marchese, ruling the town had not shown the requests were frivolous, intended to harass or intimidate, or not meant to share information about government activity. Marchese filed multiple requests between February and April covering municipal audit and legal expenses. Those requests include independent financial audit reports for fiscal years 2019 through 2024, auditor opinion letters, findings, management letters, and correspondence between the town and its auditors.
