'Pieces of Salem' Quadricentennial Anthology Announced

The Peabody Essex Museum and Salem State University will launch "Pieces of Salem: An Anthology of Salem Voices" on Sept. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Salem State's Sophia Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts on Lafayette Street. Commissioned for the city's Salem 400+ celebrations, the book collects prose and poems from more than 130 writers who live or work in Salem, each limited to 400 words to mark the quadricentennial. The program includes readings, a book signing and a conversation with editor and Salem Poet Laureate J.D. Scrimgeour and PEM's David Snider, with readings by Mayor Dominick Pangallo and Salem State President John Keenan among others.
