Salem State Opens 'Feed A Viking Market' Food Pantry
Salem State University opened the "Feed A Viking Market" on the ground floor of the Frederick E. Berry Library and Learning Commons, a retail-style space where students can take food, toiletries and other basic necessities at no cost. It replaces the university's former pantry in the Ellison Campus Center and was marked with a ribbon-cutting Wednesday night. Campus survey data from the Spring 2026 National College Health Assessment found 49.2 percent of students said their food did not last and they could not afford more, and 50.5 percent said they could not afford balanced meals.
