Salem Man Charged in Cabot Street Homicide

Essex County DA Paul Tucker and Police Chief Lucas Miller said officers responded to a well-being check on Cabot Street on Tuesday night and found a 42-year-old woman dead. A 50-year-old Salem man sought in connection with her death was found in Portsmouth, N.H., on Wednesday and arrested; he was expected to face a fugitive from justice charge there before arraignment on the murder charge in Salem District Court on Thursday. As of Wednesday night, the DA's office was withholding the woman's identity pending next-of-kin notification, and police had not indicated a cause of death.
