City Council Moves to Support Boston Buskers
The City Council agreed on September 30 to look at ways to encourage street performers across Boston, not just at Faneuil Hall or Copley Square. The proposal from Councilors Sharon Durkan, Ruthzee Louijeune and Brian Worrell, whose district includes Roslindale, suggests electrical outlets, signage and other infrastructure to help musicians cope with lost venues and bring more vibrancy to neighborhoods. Durkan noted that busking in Boston already requires no permit except at Faneuil Hall.
