Quincy Leaders Table Flock Camera Discussion

City leaders voted Tuesday to table discussion of Quincy's 50 Flock automated license-plate reader cameras until a later date. Police Chief Mark Kennedy said more than 700,000 plates were captured in recent weeks and fewer than 200 were investigated, describing the cameras as an investigative tool rather than a way to monitor law-abiding residents. Several residents oppose the technology, and the City Council plans a public hearing in the near future as other Massachusetts communities end their use of it over privacy concerns.
