MBTA to boost Red Line frequency starting Sept. 6

The MBTA announced on Aug. 17 that its fall service changes take effect Sunday, Sept. 6, with Red Line trains running more frequently on weekdays and weekends thanks to higher speeds and continued track work. Separately, beginning Sept. 1, riders can make unlimited transfers between bus, subway and ferry within a two-hour window and pay only the highest fare of any single leg. The agency urges riders to check schedules in advance using its Trip Planner and the MBTA Go app.
