MIT opens renovated Met Warehouse as architecture and planning hub
MIT marked the opening of the century-old Metropolitan Storage Warehouse on Wednesday as the new home of its School of Architecture and Planning. The adaptive-reuse project, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, turned the 500-foot-long, five-story brick landmark into double-height studios, offices, classrooms, galleries and building-long walkways on all five floors. The building also includes an auditorium and common spaces intended for public lectures, exhibitions and other programming.
