Overnight parking ban downtown tonight for street sweeping

Parking is banned from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, on Walnut, Foster, Main and Washington streets, and on Lowell Street between Sawyer Street and Peabody Square, while the Department of Public Services sweeps downtown roads. The cleanup clears debris from the recent nor'easter ahead of the rescheduled International Festival on Sunday, Oct. 4. A police detail officer will be on hand to assist with vehicle removal and traffic control during the sweeping.

The Board of Health imposed a $5,000 fine and a 30-day tobacco-sales suspension on Richdale Convenience, 139 Lynnfield St., for a separate third violation. The suspension begins Thursday, Oct. 1. At its Sept. 24 hearing, the board revoked violations against retailers over ZYN Chill.
