Peabody firefighters aid four-alarm Rockport fire
Peabody was among 10 departments providing mutual aid at a four-alarm fire Sunday morning at a mixed-use building at 19 Broadway Ave. in Rockport. Crews responded to a report of a strong gas odor at about 9:58 a.m., found thick black smoke and an active fire, and knocked it down by about 1 p.m. No injuries were reported, but at least two families and commercial businesses were displaced; the cause is under investigation by the Rockport Fire Department and the state fire marshal's office.
