Historic Newton's $135,000 textile archive grant restored

Historic Newton says its $135,000 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, previously rescinded by the Trump administration, has been reinstated. No reason was given. The group, which runs the Jackson Homestead and the Durant-Kenrick House, can now go ahead with its project to sort and better catalog its large textile collection, including deaccessioning duplicates and less interesting items; 'Our job is to accumulate the right stuff,' said Director Lisa Dady.
