ICE Detains Two Individuals in Newton Enforcement Actions

Federal immigration agents detained one person outside Newton District Court on Thursday, then followed and stopped a vehicle driven by an acquaintance in front of City Hall and detained that person as well, according to Mayor Marc Laredo. Newton police responded to the City Hall scene after a bystander's 911 call and maintained order during the enforcement action; the second individual was released before all parties dispersed. The identities of the two people, the reason for the initial detention, and whether the first person remains in federal custody have not been released.
