Karen Peirce Appointed to Needham Park & Recreation Commission

The Park & Recreation Commission and Select Board voted unanimously at a joint Sept. 8 meeting to appoint Thorpe Road resident Karen Peirce, a former department assistant director, to the commission. She fills the remainder of the three-year term of former chair Chris Gerstel, who resigned in June after pleading not guilty in federal court to 17 counts related to allegedly stealing funds from Needham Baseball and Softball. Peirce was chosen from eight applicants narrowed to three finalists by a sub-committee led by Select Board member Josh Levy and Park & Rec Chair Michelle Geddes.
