Natick finance director outlines FY26 surplus, projected deficits

Deputy Town Administrator and Finance Director Ari Sky told the Select Board that FY26 revenue came in a bit above budget and rose 5% year over year, while expenses finished slightly under budget despite high snow and ice removal costs. His five-year forecast, beginning in FY28, projects annual deficits, and he suggested the town take a fresh look at its "very aggressive approach" of covering its OPEB liability from all pension savings. The board planned to continue financial discussions at its Sept. 30 meeting, including possible amendments to the town's financial principles and FY28 expenditure guidelines.
