Statewide shellfish closure in effect for Nahant's coastal areas

The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries has closed all shellfish growing areas in state waters, including Nahant's coast, as a precaution ahead of the nor'easter. The closure took effect a half-hour before sunrise on Sept. 26 and will remain until further notice. Taking shellfish is prohibited during the closure, except for conch and sea scallop adductor muscle.
