Deed-copy mail scam warning issued for Milton homeowners
Norfolk County officials are warning Milton homeowners about a direct-mail solicitation charging up to $128 for a certified copy of a property deed — a document the Registry of Deeds provides for about $3. Register William P. O'Donnell called the mailer a scam that preys on first-time buyers and the elderly, noting that recipients often mistake it for a bill because it includes a due date.
