Construction Begins on Dunton Playground Upgrades
The city says work at Dunton Playground, at 143 Franklin St., began as early as the week of Aug. 31 and should last about two to four weeks, with the existing equipment removed and replaced by a new age-appropriate structure. The project is funded through the Proposition 2 1/2 override, which supported $536,000 in the FY2026 Capital Improvement Program for playground work at Dunton and Common parks. The roughly 15,000-square-foot neighborhood park, built in 1969 and known locally as "Swiss Cheese Park," mainly serves younger children and families nearby.
