Melrose HHS: protect yourself from West Nile Virus

The Massachusetts State Public Health Lab confirmed positive West Nile Virus mosquito samples in Melrose on Aug. 12, following earlier positive samples in Stoneham on July 10 and July 29. There have been no human cases in Massachusetts so far this year, but officials say mosquito populations will increase into September and beyond. The Melrose Health and Human Services Department is asking residents to check the state's mosquito-borne disease risk levels and use an EPA-registered insect repellent to avoid bites.
