Design C2.2A Chosen for New Medford High School

The Medford Comprehensive High School Building Committee voted to make design C2.2A the single option in its Preferred Schematic Report, a renovation-and-addition plan built on the existing school footprint. Members cited improved sight lines for supervising students, preservation and renovation of the current pool and gymnasium, no need for modular classrooms, support from the police and fire chiefs, and the lowest cost among addition/renovation options. The report goes to the Massachusetts School Building Authority later this month; the project is currently estimated at $813 million total, with Medford's share estimated at $591 million.
