Three friends land 600-plus-pound bluefin tuna

Kris Meola, Michael Karadamos and Graham Foster took Thursday morning off and headed to the northeast corner of Stellwagen Bank aboard Meola's 33-foot Boston Whaler, where they fought a 103-inch bluefin tuna for roughly 45 minutes. The fish, which Meola estimated at 600 to 700 pounds, was too big for the three to haul aboard, so they needed another boat's help and a block and tackle to lift it. The catch was unloaded at State Street Landing and entered in the Maddie's Anglers tournament.
