Facilities Panel Recommends Transferring Eveleth School to Town

The School Committee's Facilities Subcommittee voted Sept. 30 to recommend turning the former Eveleth School property over to the town, citing declining enrollment and available space in existing schools. Superintendent John Robidoux said the uses considered, including moving central offices there at a cost of roughly $500,000, don't justify keeping the building. The full School Committee is expected to begin discussing the recommendation at its Oct. 1 meeting, and any transfer would require a Town Meeting vote.
