Light Commission Prepares to Vote on Joining Clean Energy Trust
The five-member Municipal Light Commission is scheduled to vote at 4 p.m. Tuesday, at 80 Commercial St. and on Zoom, on joining the state's Green Communities program. A yes vote would commit the Light Department to collecting an irrevocable renewable energy charge of $0.0005 per kilowatt-hour from every customer. At 2024 sales, that comes to about $49,900 a year systemwide, or roughly $4 a year for the average residential customer, shown as its own line on the bill.
