Nor'easter to bring high winds, coastal flooding to Marblehead
A National Weather Service high wind warning takes effect at 5 a.m. Friday, with forecasters warning that damaging winds could bring down trees and power lines and cause outages. A high surf advisory and coastal flood watch run through Sunday evening, rain could last into Monday, and low-lying roads such as Ocean Avenue and the Causeway could close. Harbormaster Mark Souza urged boat owners to secure gear, check bilges and pennant lines, and haul out if they can, while the Marblehead Electric Light Department says its crews are standing by.

DPW details road, sidewalk repair plans and spending
DPW Supervisor Amy McHugh reported Sept. 24 on Marblehead's $12.475 million infrastructure appropriation, with $6.48 million remaining for projects including a Pleasant Street redesign and work on Curtis, Roosevelt and Maverick streets. A five-year schedule isn't set yet, but a 12- to 18-month outlook is in development.

Marblehead schools keep current cellphone policy for now
