Board of Health Unanimously Censures Tom McMahon

The Board of Health voted unanimously Wednesday night to censure member Tom McMahon over his conduct toward resident Ryan Wilson at an Aug. 24 meeting, after a tense 90-minute discussion. McMahon moved to censure himself, acknowledging he should not have repeatedly interrupted Wilson, but declined to apologize to him directly, saying, "I'm apologizing to my board members." The Aug. 24 exchange came during public comment, when Wilson, a parent of two Marblehead High students, challenged McMahon's characterization of underage drinking data from a recent high school risk survey that showed a 10% drop in teens reporting drinking.
