First Lutheran Church closes after more than 130 years

After more than 130 years of ministry in Malden, First Lutheran Church closed its doors with a festive farewell worship service and a reception featuring displays from the congregation's long history. Mayor Gary Christenson attended and wished the Rev. Emily Hamilton and the congregation well. The congregation is merging with another to become Hope Lutheran Church, which will hold a monthly worship service in Malden at a date and time yet to be set.
