Correctional Officer Arraigned on Contraband Charges

Christal Dunston, an Essex County Sheriff's Department correctional officer from Lynn, was arraigned Sept. 17 in Salem District Court on charges of smuggling synthetic cannabinoids and an unauthorized cellphone into the Middleton Jail and House of Correction. Investigators allege she brought the items into the facility; she was arrested Thursday.
