Lynn weighs historic-district status for Diamond District

City officials and the Historical Commission discussed a proposal this week to designate the entire Diamond District a local historic district, extending preservation protections to the neighborhood's housing stock. Associate Planning Director Lauren Drago and Principal Planning Director Aaron Clausen presented it as one of two approaches to strengthening historic preservation in Lynn. The second would be a citywide landmark ordinance allowing individual buildings, structures, sites, and landscapes to receive local protections.
