Lexington wins state funding for affordable housing projects

Two Lexington affordable housing projects won state funding in what Gov. Maura Healey's administration called the largest single round of housing awards in more than a decade, the town announced Sept. 30. Causeway Development's proposed 40-unit Lowell Street project, branded Lexington Woods, received Low Income Housing Tax Credits. The Lexington Housing Assistance Board won Affordable Homes Act funding to build eight accessory dwelling units on its properties, backed by a $1 million local match from the Lexington Affordable Housing Trust, and Town Manager Steve Bartha noted that getting LIHTC funding on the first try is uncommon.
